Richard A. King is Director of the Valencia High School Tiger Regiment, teaching Marching Band, Symphonic Band and Jazz bands.  Prior to teaching at Valencia High School, Mr. King was the Band director for 14 years at Lincoln High School. (Stockton, CA)

Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in music education from CSU Fullerton, and Masters of Science Degree from Full Sail University (Florida), in Educational Media Design Technology in 2009.

Mr. King was the drum major at Santa Ana Valley High School band where he was influenced and encouraged to pursue a career in music by his Band Director.  In school Mr. King played the trumpet, baritone, and French horn, performed in the Santa Ana Winds Youth Band, was Drum Major for the Velvet Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, and was an instructor for USA Drum Major Camps.

Mr. King accepted his first teaching assignment at Anaheim High School where he worked to rebuild the Anaheim Band back to the pride and traditions of former directors H. Robert Reynolds and Don Wilcox. He continued to develop quality music programs both at Esperanza High School and at Long Beach Polytechnic High School before moving to Northern California and settling in Stockton.  At Lincoln High School Mr. King was an active advocate for music technology and has developed curriculum for Electronic Music Classes.  The Lincoln Band traveled extensively with Mr. King on trips to Hawaii, Victoria British Colombia, Canada, and performed in Southern California at Disneyland. Under Mr. King's instruction the Lincoln Band has marched in the prestigious Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. Mr. King has twice been a guest conductor with the Northern California Music Ambassadors performing concert tours in London, Paris, Austria, Switzerland, and Germany.

Mr. King currently is a member of the SCSBOA, California Band Directors Association, Jazz Educators Network, Music Educators National Conference, Music Institute for Music Technology, and California Music Educators Association.
