Barry Gardner (14th Year Teaching/ 20th Year Coaching)
Mr. Gardner attended CSUF where he received his B.S in Kinesiology. He received his Teaching Credential from National University and Masters in Health Education from the University of the Pacific. Mr. Gardner taught PE his first year teaching and has taught Health and CCR the past 13 years.

Coach Barry Gardner has been coaching soccer at Valencia High School since 2001. A graduate of Valencia High School in 1998, Coach Gardner played on the Varsity Soccer Team here from 1995 to 1998, earning 1st-Team All-Orange League honors, as a Central Defender.
After graduating from VHS in 1998, Coach Gardner went on to play one year of college soccer at Fullerton College. In 2001 Coach Gardner came back to his alma mater as the Head Coach of the Junior Varsity Soccer team. In his very first year of coaching his team won an Orange League Championship, with a record of 8-2. He was promoted to Varsity Assistant in 2002 and served in that capacity until becoming the Varsity Head Coach in 2006.
As a Varsity assistant, Coach Gardner was part of the staff that won an Empire League Championship in 2004, the first championship by a Valencia Varsity Soccer team in 17 years. In three years of coaching Varsity Soccer at Valencia Coach Gardner's career record is 48 wins and 31 losses for a winning percentage of 61%, while is career record in league play is 15 wins and 12 losses with 3 ties, for a career winning percentage of 50%.
In the 2008-2009 season Coach Gardner's team set a school record for wins with 23 they finished the season with 23 wins 4 losses and 1 tie. They won an Empire League Championship with a record of 8 wins and 2 losses, it was the first championship for Coach Gardner as a head coach. They beat Santa Ana High School 1-0 to win the first CIF-SS championship in schools history. Lastly, on a personal note Coach Gardner was chosen the OC Registers "Coach Of The Year".

Most recently Coach Gardner's 2010, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 teams have captured the Empire League Championships. In 2017 Coach Gardner's team set a new school record for wins with 25 as they finished the season as CIF Finalists.
Coach Gardner's coaching philosophy is to build INTEGRITY, RESPONSIBILITY, and PERSEVERANCE. He teaches his players the importance of teamwork and pushing through the tough times in order to enjoy the benefits of the exciting moments of competition.
