Hello,
I am so honored and proud to be able to teach at Valencia High School, a great school! I grew up in Yorba Linda and in my younger days, I was actually a Golden Hawk over at El Dorado. But as you can see I have since come over to the dark side and I am now a Valencia Tiger. After graduating high school I attended UC Davis in Northern California. There, I earned a bachelor's degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. I then moved back to Southern California to earn my Teaching Credential from Concordia University. In December of 2021, I earned my Master's in Environmental Studies from Cal State Fullerton.
I have played soccer since I can remember. I played varsity for three years in high school and on the club team at UC Davis. I still currently play soccer through an adult co-ed league. My best position is outside midfield because I love running! In January of 2020, I ran my first half marathon and reached my goal of doing it in under 2 hours! ;) I do enjoy an active, outdoors, and sustainable lifestyle. I've done my fair share of traveling in and outside the USA and am thankful that my husband also loves to travel. We love hiking, camping, surfing, and kayaking. We look forward to many more adventures! I have been to over 12 different countries and over 10 different states. I love traveling and I look forward to many more adventures with my family and friends!
I currently teach Living Earth (previously known as biology), AP Environmental Science, Cambridge International Environmental Management and Physics in the Universe at VHS. I am also the teacher advisor for Link Crew (@valencialinkcrew), where we pair upperclassmen with freshmen to help them adjust to their first year of high school. We host many events for freshmen throughout the year. I am also the club advisor for the Valencia Service Committee (@vhs_vsc), a community service club whose most well-known contribution to VHS is Tiger's Closet. Tiger's Closet is Valencia's one and only FREE thrift store. We take donations of clothes, shoes, and accessories year-round. In 2021, as part of my Master's project, I started the Valencia Community Garden. We now meet after school once a week to tend to the garden. We grow seasonal vegetables, and native California plants and will be working on a butterfly box this year. Our culinary teacher is my partner in the garden and has taught us how to create delicious foods from the plants we grow.
If you would like to get involved in any of these great opportunities, please contact me at [email protected] and I will get back to you in a timely manner. Please see Aries for links to Google Classroom or the right sidebar for more information on specific classes your student may be in and to find links to Google classroom.
Thanks,
Rebecca Bonet
