My name is Mr. Morrison. I have been teaching at Valencia high school for the past 17 years. I teach four levels of construction technology. The classes are BITA 1, BITA 2, BITA 3, and BITA4. BITA stands for Building Industry Technology Academy. These classes are administrated through PYLUSD and the North Orange County ROP www.nocrop.org along with support from CBIA California Building Industry Association www.cbia.org . BITA1 is considered an entry level class. Students in BITA 1 will learn the basics of construction technology. Some of the things a first year student will learn are: how to measure using a tape measure and architectural scale, how to use shop equipment, how to construct small projects, and the major project which is how to construct a scale model home. BITA 2 is a foundation year for the BITA program. Second-year students will incorporate prior knowledge from BITA 1 to construct full-size structures that incorporate electricity, plumbing, drywall finish, carpentry, and roofing. Our third and fourth year students will use prior knowledge learned in BITA1 and BITA 2 to produce capstone projects such as the check-out counter in our schools library, the trophy case located in the gymnasium, playhouse house for the preschool program, and concession stand for the softball program.
. Students will be using the computer lab to learn computer assisted drafting, home design, cost analysis, job research and any other industry applications that apply.
Along with teaching at Valencia high school I also enjoy music, golf, hiking, fishing, the Dodgers and most importantly my amazing family.
