The Scholastic All-America Team is made up of high school student-athletes who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and who have achieved the required time standard in a single event. Jacob received special recognition for carrying a 4.0 or higher GPA and qualified with his 100 meter breaststroke time of 1:08.30 while swimming with ORCA, his club team based out of Orange.
This past spring, Jacob competed for VHS at the DIII CIF Finals in Riverside earning 2nd place overall in his 100 yard breaststroke after swimming undefeated in that event all season in the Empire League. Subsequently, this past summer Jacob competed at the CA/NV Sectionals Championships in Santa Clarita and the Junior Olympics Championships held in Mission Viejo.
He took home two gold medals at the Junior Olympics, one in the 100 meter breaststroke and the other in the 200 meter breaststroke event. His time in the 100 meter breaststroke of 1:08.30 qualified him Futures Championships, a sanctioned USA Swimming National Meet. Jacob’s next goal is to break the VHS school record in the 100 yard breaststroke.
