For Olympiad students, it is rocket science

"ANAHEIM HILLS – The crowded dance room at Canyon High School is hushed as Harrison Hsueh of Valencia High School launches a wooden glider toward the ceiling.

The glider dips just below the beams and begins a slow, wide spiral to the ground as the nearly 50-member audience watches.

"You start off pretty nervous, especially when watching other teams, because you don't know if you will do better than them. After you launch it, you're calmer," said Krish Seth, 15, of Valencia High School.

Seth and Hsueh of Placentia were among an estimated 1,400 high school and middle school students from Southern California competing on Saturday at the State Science Olympiad at Canyon High School in Anaheim Hills....."
